THE BOHEMIAN BLONDE SUPERHERO YOGA




I signed up for a pretty unique yoga class tonight that will be embracing the Seven Spiritual Laws of SUPERHEROS.

It’s a sculpt class that’ll be digging deep into Deepak Chopra’s new book, grooving to some sweet tunes and of course, awakening. One of the suggestions for the class was to dress the part of a superhero such as Wonder Woman or maybe even wearing your own superhero cape, all ideas are welcome!

Ironic enough, this tank top arrived in the mail yesterday. A gift from someone I look up to more than words can describe. Someone that showed me there IS a way to live your life by your own design. And that there IS a way to be your very own boss - my BIGGEST goal in this lifetime heart emoticon

This tank top says, Bohemian. If you follow my blog, you’ll understand the significance this as my name in “cyber space world” is, The Bohemian Blonde.

The Bohemian Blonde is someone I created over a year ago. This “superhero chick” that empowers others, combats self-doubt to push beyond limiting beliefs. Constantly challenging the inner villain (ego). Just as I can feel myself taking a step back I ask, “What would TBB do?” … and immediately I step back OUT of the comfort zone. This entity / superhero woman inspires me daily.

So tonight, I’m going as me, my own superhero, TBB! And like any good super hero, wearing this tank top under my suit jacket in my day job – because that’s pretty cool too.

Who and what does your inner superhero look like? And if you don't have one, make one up, you deserve to heighten your amazing powers - that only you have.

NEVER MISS A CALL

PROTEIN PACKED MEAL PREP




INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 3 cups Brussels sprouts, trimmed and quartered (about 3/4 pound)
  • 1 medium sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes (about 8 ounces)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into 3/4 inch cubes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 teaspoons)
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken stock, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper


INSTRUCTIONS


  1. Heat the olive oil in a large, nonstick or cast iron skillet over medium high, until hot and shimmering. Add the chicken and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt. Cook until lightly browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Transfer to plate lined with paper towels.
  2. Reduce skillet heat to medium low. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crisp and brown and the fat has rendered, about 4 minutes. With a slotted spoon, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate (I simply laid another paper towel on top of the plate with the chicken, then stacked the bacon on that). Discard all but 1 1/2 tablespoons bacon fat from the pan.
  3. Increase skillet heat back to medium high. Add Brussels sprouts, sweet potato, onion, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until crisp-tender and the onions are beginning to look translucent, about 8 minutes.
  4. Stir in the apples, garlic, thyme, and cinnamon. Cook 30 seconds, then pour in 1/2 cup of the broth. Bring to a boil and cook until evaporated, about 2 minutes. Add the reserved chicken and remaining 1/2 cup broth. Cook until heated through, about 2 minutes. Stir in reserved bacon and serve warm.

HEALTHY SNACKS, IT'S SHOWTIME!


Convention Center food blows billygoats. You get two options: burgers that taste like hockey pucks topped with neon cheese or rubber chicken nuggets. Going into year 3 of the show and I've learned my lesson now! PLAN AHEAD👍 

Here's my plan of attack! Got each outfit lined up for the next two weeks now onto meal planning....I do *luckily* get a mini fridge this year! Ill be detailing WHY I picked what I did on my private Facebook page tonight,Motivated Mavenss.

In our few short months of knowing each other, we've taken leaps and bounds through challages, tried new things (hello lemon water + pink salt 👌) Watching you lead a triumphant life has made me want to be a better person. BENEFITS OF KEFIR




After listening to a podcast on Kefir the other morning, I got all fired up to try it. Its was delicious! Tastes very similar to yogurt. 

Kefir is a milk that has been fermented by a bacteria culture that is present in kefir grains. Kefir grains are made up of yeasts and bacteria that exist symbiotically in a community of proteins and sugars. Simply put, kefir is fermented milk with a host of probiotics (friendly, beneficial bacteria). It is also packed with enzymes, folic acid, vitamins (B and K) and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorous.

This would be the perfect addition to someone's diet if they were struggling with digestive issues or gets sick easily, I highly believe your immune system is directly associated with your gut health so by keeping that in check is imperative. And for me, with the show coming up next week, many hands to shake and people to see, I'll be swigging this down with my morning smoothies!!! 🍓

LUNGES + LUNCHES + LATTES CHALLENGE




All of next week I'll be downtown loading in the exhibitors for the H&G Show! During this time last year, I ate waaaay too many cookies, convention center fast food and just about anything in the moment. I failed to plan ahead and because of that, I wore out so quickly on carbs and sugar. This year is all about commitment *not matter what* and not falling off the train! SO! I'm planning out each one of my quick-clean-lunches, getting 20/30 minutes in each day from an easy to follow fitness routine (in my hotel room) and plenty of water!! This will be my biggest challenge to date - but I'm up for it!

That's 7 days total, Mon - Fri. Lunges, Lunches + Lattes! (yes...you read that right....lattes!)

FITBIT GIVEAWAY



I got a call on the way into work today that I had WON this sweet FITBIT {wwwhhhhat!?!? ♥}. On my way over to pick this lovely-lovey prize up, I had an absolute moment of clarity as to why (I think) I was chosen. 

In November of 2015, I decided to become a wellness coach and actively run and lead a community of women looking to feel empowered! Empowered is a loaded word so let me break it down. It's a sanctuary (aka private facebook group) where we share our wellness goals - this being weight loss, nutrition, toning and a splash or two of mediation and self growth through personal development along the way! {wicked cool stuff}

21 DAY FIX



Two months before my wedding, I hate a hard plateau. I was unable to lose the last 7 pounds to reach my goal which meant me having to let out my dress in my hips, which I did not want to do! I stumbled across a Facebook post and decided to give the 21 Day Fix a try. I looked into the program extensively, beginning with the the meal planning containers. I found the following information on each:


Blue container: CHEESE, NUTS, AVOCADO, COCONUT
Yellow container: CARBS + STARCHES
Red container: PROTEIN
Green container: VEGGIES
Purple container: FRUIT
Orange container: DRESSING + SEEDS


My desired calorie intake was 1,200 - 1,499 per day calories per day. What that meant was 3 GREEN containers, 2 PURPLE containers, 4 RED containers, 2 YELLOW containers, 1 BLUE container and 1 ORANGE container. What I found was that 1 was actually eating more which completely surprised me!
A typical day looked a little something like this:

After following the meal plans for the first week, I was completely hooked. I could feel my system revving up from the nutrition and slowly I gave my metabolism the perfect boost to burn through the plateau.


That's the nutrition side of things. There was also 30 minute workouts every day....yes, that's right ONLY 30 minutes! Anyone has 30 minutes to crush their goals. You pop in the DVD and before you know it, its done and you feel great.  Each day has a different workout so you're constantly pushing your body through new moves and creating muscle confusion. They're also position so that when you need a little yoga / slow movement, you get that as well.

GIVING BACK + WORLD WILDLIFE FUND




My little fur baby and I are writing a check to help the animals in Africa. 

Thousands of elephants are being killed every year for their ivory. 60% of the population in Tazania has been killed. 1,215 Rhinos have been killed in South Africa (80% of the worlds rhinos call this place home) Tigers are being harvested for everything - down to their whiskers and sold on the black market. We're slowly watching these animal populations fade away....due to hate and greed.

{Heart breaking!!!!} I want to do more.

I hope this check will assist the team at the World Wildlife Fund to better serve our world and help to protect our animals heart emoticon
